Verb-Mood - வினைச்சொல் நிலை
ஒரு வினைச்சொல், செயலைக் குறிப்பிட பலவிதங்களில் பயன்படுத்தப்படுகிறது. அவை
ஒரு தகவலை தெரிவிக்கவோ, ஒரு கேள்வியைக் கேட்கவோ அல்லது ஒரு
நிபந்தனையைக் குறிக்கவோ பயன்படுத்தப்படலாம்.
இவ்வாறு ஒரு வினைச்சொல் (verb) பலவிதமுறைகளில் (modes) அல்லது
பலவிதங்களில் (manners) நமது எண்ணங்களை வெளிப்படுத்தப் பயன்படுத்தப்படுவது
mood எனப்படும்.
A verb, may be used to express a fact, or to ask a question or to express a command. These different
modes or manners in which a verb may be used to express our thought is called mood.
Definition: Mood is the mode or manner in which the action denoted by the verb is represented.
ஆங்கிலத்தில் மூன்று வகையான வினைச்சொல் - நிலை (verb - mood) உள்ளன.
அவை i) Indicative mood - சாதாரணநிலை
ii) Imperative mood - கட்டளை அல்லது வேண்டுகோள் நிலை
iii) Subjunctive mood - விருப்பநிலை
1. Indicative mood - சாதாரணநிலை
ஒரு தகவல் அல்லது விஷயத்தை தெரிவிக்க, அல்லது ஒரு கேள்வி கேட்க, உண்மை
என கருதப்படும் உத்தேசத்தை குறிக்கப்பயன்படுவது Indicative mood ஆகும்.
எ.கா i) டெண்டுல்கர் ஒரு நூறு ரன்களை அடித்தார்.
ii) உன்னுடைய வீட்டு வேலையை நீ முடித்து விட்டாயா?
iii)மழை பெய்தால், நான் வீட்டில் தங்குவேன்.
A verb which makes a statement of fact or asks a question or expresses a supposition which is assumed
as a fact, is in the Indicative mood.
எ.கா i) Tendulkar hits a hundred runs.
ii) Have you finished your home work?
iii) If it rains, I shall stay at home.
2. Imperative Mood - கட்டளை அல்லது வேண்டுகோள் நிலை
ஒரு வினைச்சொல், ஒரு கட்டளையிட, ஆலோசனைக்கூற வேண்டுகோள் அல்லது
பிராத்தனை செய்ய பயன்படுத்தப்படுமாயின் அவை Inperative mood ஆகும்.
A verb which expresses a command, an exhortation, an extreaty or prayer is in the imperative mood
i) Go out (வெளியே போ)
(a command / ஒரு கட்டளை)
ii) Done#39;t play in the hot sun
(சூரிய ஒளியில் (வெயிலில்) விளையாடதே)(an exhortation / ஒரு ஆலோசனை)
iii) Please come tomorrow
(தயவுசெய்து நாளை வா)
Have mercy upon him. An entreaty - வேண்டுகோள் (அவர் மீது
கருணை வை ) Prayer / பிராத்தனை Note: The subject of a verb in the Imperative mood isusually not expressed but understood.
3. Subjunctive mood - விருப்பநிலை
ஒரு வினைச்சொல் ஒரு எண்ணத்தை அல்லது விருப்பத்தை அல்ல சந்தேகத்தை
வெளிப்படுத்துமாயின் அவை Subjunctive mood ஆகும்.
A verb which expresses supposition or a wish or doubt of any kind, it is said to be in the subjunctive
mood. 6.80
i) God be with you
கடவுள் உன்னுடன் இருப்பார். (Supposition - எண்ண ம்)
ii) Long live the king
அரசர் நீண்ட நாள் வாழவேண்டும்.
(wish - விருப்பம்)
iii) If he were here, he would help us.
அவன் இங்கு இருந்திருந்தால் எங்களுக்கு உதவி இருப்பான்
