Present Tense - நிகழ்காலம்
(A) Simple present - (சாதாரண நிகழ்காலம்)
a) வழக்கமாக நடைபெறும் செயலைக் குறிப்பிட
எ.கா i) He goes to school at 9 a.m
அவன் பள்ளிக்கு காலை 9 மணிக்கு செல்கிறான்
ii) I pray God daily.
நான் இறைவனை தினமும் பிராத்திக்கிறோன்
b) பொதுவான உண்மைகளை குறிப்பிட (to express general truth)
எ.கா i) The Sunrises in the east.
சூரியன் கிழக்கே தோன்றுகிறது
ii) Honey is sweet.
தேன் இனிப்பாக உள்ளது
c) திட்டமிட்ட எதிர்கால செயல்களை குறிப்பிட்ட (a planned future action).
i) She retires next year.
அவள் அடுத்த ஆண்டு ஒய்வு பெறுகிறாள்
ii) The train starts at 9'O. clock.
இரயில் 9 மணிக்கு புறப்படுகிறது.
Simple present ஐ எளிதில் கண்டறிய கீழ்கண்ட முக்கியப் பதங்களும் (Key words), எழுத கீழ்கண்ட குறிப்பு
வார்த்தைகளும் (Key words) பயன்படும்.
Key words: Usually, generally, normally, always, ever, never, often, rarely, every, frequently.
Formula: Verb + s (for third person singular).
எளிதில் கண்டறிய கீழ்கண்ட முக்கியப் 1) எழுத கீழ்க்கண்ட குறிப்பு

B) Present Continuous - நிகழ்கால தொடர்)
a) நிகழ்காலத்தில் தொடர்ந்து நடைபெறும் செயலைக் குறிப்பிட (an action which is going on at the time of
speaking).
i) I am learning grammar now
தற்போது நான் இலக்கணம் கற்றுக் கொண்டிருக்கிறேன்
ii) Still she is writing a test
அவள் இன்னுமும் ஒரு தேர்வு எழுதிக் கொண்டிருக்கிறாள்.
b) வருங்காலத்தில் நடைபெற உள்ள திட்டமிட்ட ஒரு செயல் அல்லது ஓர் ஏற்பாட்டைக் கூற
i) I am flying to Delhi this evening
இன்று மாலை நான் டில்லிக்கு செல்ல இருக்கிறேன்.
ii) She is going to the cinema to night.
இன்று இரவு அவள் சினிமாவிற்கு செல்ல இருக்கிறான்.
Keywords: now, at present, still, at this movement
Formula: am
Is + verb + ing.

Exercise:

C) Present perfect: (நிகழ்கால முற்று)
a) ஒரு செயல் முடிவடைந்த சிறிது நேரத்தில், அச்செயலைக் குறிப்பிட...
எ.கா i) She has just gone out
ii) I have completed 'my homework just now.
b) ஒரு செயல் இறந்த காலத்தில் தொடங்கி நிகழ்காலத்திலும் தொடருமாயின்
i) I have known him for a long time.
ii) He has been ill since last week.
Formula: Have
Has + been + past, participle of verb.
Keywords: Yet, just, for, never, ever, so far, till now, already, this week, this month etc.

3. She ---------- (not finish) her work yet.

D) Present perfect continuous: நிகழ்கால முற்றுத் தொடர்
ஒரு செயல் இறந்த காலத்தில் ஆரம்பித்து, நிகழ் காலத்திலும் தொடர்ந்து நடைபெற்றுக் கொண்டு இருந்தால், அச்செயலை குறிப்பிட
An action which began at some time in the past and is still continuing.
E.g.: i) I have been constructing my house for six months
என்னுடைய வீட்டை ஆறு மாதங்களாக கட்டிக் கொண்டு இருக்கிறேன்.
ii) The child has been sleeping for 7 hours.
குழந்தை 7 மணிநேரமாக தூங்கிக் கொண்டு இருக்கிறது.
Formula: Have
Has + been + verb + ing
Key words: since, for
